PET scanner can describe metabolism of the tumor foci and detect the small tumors. However without CT it is not sufficient to be located the tumors. Moreover PET/CT devices are faster than PET device and it is designed larger than PET for patients having claustrophobia.

After 45 min-1 hour drug injection the patient is placed into the PET-CT device, usually lying in a supine position with his/her arms resting at the sides, or brought together above the head, depending on the main region of interest. Scanning lasts approximately 35 – 45 minutes.
