​​​It is a discipline which deals with diagnosis and treatments of congenital and/or acquired surgical conditions of respiratory, digestive and genitourinary system of the pediatric population, ranging from neonatal period to childhood (0-17 years).

Children are no means the minor form of adults.Pediatric period has unique physiology and conditions/diseases.Pediatric diseases have different characteristics depending on particular age ranges.Diagnosis and treatment of those diseases should be based on development, growth, physiology and psychology of the child.On the other hand, conditions that require a surgical approach should be assessed by Pediatric Surgery who determine and employ the specific diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

The outcomes of a surgical intervention in childhood will be carried by the patients over a lifetime.Therefore, all these interventions should be carried out by well-trained Pediatric Surgeons, who have undergone a long and tough training, learn modern treatment techniques and are the most disciplined, and who can take the initiative and start the optimal treatment in a very short time.
